You sure wouldn't know I hate clutter by looking at this catch-all, huh?
How to Transform a Cluttered Catch-All into a Fabulous Look for Fall
I hate clutter. Really, I do. Can you feel a but coming along yet? ;) But, you wouldn't be able to tell if you happened to look inside our home. *hangs head* I blame lack of space, lack of time and a touch of laziness. After a while, it just gets under my skin to where I can't take it anymore and I have what I like to call a purge day. All of the clutter gets cleaned up, with probably half of it being thrown away, the rest finally being filed away where it should really go with a few pieces left behind for organization and eye appeal.
Ah, now this looks much better!
I happened to have my latest purge day when I got tired of looking at our catch-all in our living room. Our living room is pretty much right there beside the stairs when you open the door to our rental. So, as you can see, this cube shelving unit quickly becomes our catch-all for everything from mail to cat toys to cleaning products to beverages and more, apparently. A lot of the stuff had probably been sitting there for at least a month without being touched. Enough was enough.
The Glade® Sense & Spray® Automatic Freshener is a great look year-round, but especially for fall.
Thankfully Glade® had motivated me to decorate a bit for one of my favorite seasons of the year, fall. I loved looking through their fall color swatch and was intrigued that the Glade® Sense & Spray® Automatic Freshener had a great look that I wouldn't mind being on a focus point in the room. So many air fresheners are clunky and just plain ugly, but this one isn't huge, but has a great neutral look while still being functional that's perfect for fall but also works for year-round. The freshener comes with the Clean Linen scent, which is actually Mr. Savvy's favorite air freshener scent, and one of my favorites, too. You can also purchase scents like Apple Cinnamon and Cashmere Woods to get your senses ready for fall. Plus, it only sprays when there's movement paired with a timer, so you aren't wasting your money on product you don't even get to enjoy.
These were the reasons I picked each piece.
With this center point in mind, I headed over to a couple of my favorite local stores for a few more pieces to decorate with. I wanted items that looked great, but could still be functional and practical for our every day use. So, I picked up a lovely woven basket, a vase and cat-friendly artificial flowers (our cats love to try to eat most real plants) and vase filler balls and also a small dish to put things like wallets and keys in. I also couldn't resist picking up a cute little porcupine figure for a fun touch. Then I paired a couple things we had around the house like an orange blanket to use as a runner and an orchid plant, which the cats thankfully leave alone, for an extra pop of color.
Isn't this little guy just too cute?!
Over the past week, I've enjoyed having a space of refreshingly clutter-free fall flare. Luckily, we've actually kept it clutter-free, too! Now, to tackle my office. ;)

Baskets, preferably with lids. I keep baskets of junk all over the place, and sometimes I even clean them out :-)

I have a hard time not having a 'catch-all' space in our house. It would be nice to organize those spaces
