One of the things I love about holidays most is having an excuse to get creative and cooking in the kitchen. Knowing my infinite love for all things chocolate, it’s likely not hard to guess that Valentine’s Day would be one of my favorite holidays of the year, right? And that’s not just because I enjoy getting chocolate (and I so very much do ;)). I choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day by making sure to let all my loved ones know just how much I care about them. In our busy lives, an I love you or I care about you or just a thank you for all you do is something that goes unsaid far too often, whether it’s to our spouse, family, friends or service providers.
One of the ways I love to let people know how much I care about them is through homemade goodies like muffins, cakes, cookies, preserves and so forth. These days with so many of us not having the time to cook or bake, especially from scratch, it’s such an extra meaningful gesture. Some of my favorites to make are chocolate chip banana muffins for Mr. Savvy, because I’m so bananas about him (and he’s constantly asking me to make them), or browned butter chocolate chip cookies that everyone loves.
