Scalloped  Potatoes

Ingredients

- Potatoes - Onion - Butter - Garlic - Flour - Milk - Cream - Cheese - Salt & Pepper - Cayenne (optional)

Preheat your oven and grease your baking dish, peel potatoes if desired, and then slice them and the onion thinly.

Melt butter and lightly cook garlic. Add flour and make a roux.

Whisk in milk and cream. Continue cooking until thickened.

Turn off heat and stir in cheese and seasonings. Then fold in potatoes and onions.

Pour the potato mixture into your prepared casserole dish. Bake until potatoes are fork-tender.

When potatoes are tender, top with additional cheese and let bake until cheese is melted. Let the scalloped potatoes sit for a few minutes before serving.

Tip

While you can slice the potatoes by hand or with a mandolin, a food processor really makes the process quick and easy.
