Summer came in with a bang this year and it's been hot. Super hot. So hot that I've lost count of how many days we've had temperatures that were far more insane than normal. When it's that hot, the last thing I feel like doing is cooking and all I really want is something light and delicious. That's why I'm so thankful that we live less than 5 minutes from one of our local Piccadilly Restaurants.
I know some of you may be saying, "A cafeteria, really?" But, this isn't your usual hospital-type fare. Being from the south, I grew up with a handful of local cafeterias like Piccadilly that have awesome food. The best part is that there's something for everyone no matter their tastes. Considering the first Piccadilly Cafeteria opened in 1932 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and today there are about 60 restaurants and 80 food service locations all across the southeast, you know the food has to be good.
So, going back to my dilemma, you can see why I love Piccadilly so much. I'm <3'ing it even more right now because I can get 3 sides of my choosing and freshly baked bread for just $5.49. I don't know about you, but that's far less than I would even spend at a drive-thru for food that certainly isn't homestyle like Piccadilly. Don't get me wrong, you guys know I'm a full on carnivore, but when I want something lighter, I love a bunch of veggies. At Piccadilly you can get everything from carrot souffle (my fave) to fruit salad, fried okra, mac and cheese, grilled veggies and more. Yum! Honestly, it's hard for me to decide on just 3. Luckily, extra forks are free when Mr. Savvy and I really feel like splurging and getting several different sides to share.
What are your favorite sides and meal at Piccadilly for this promotion? Do you have trouble choosing just a few dishes like me?
